1979年生まれ　滋賀県在住　1996から「やまなみ工房」に所属 10代半ば、ある時を境に彼女はひとつの物に執着を抱くようになった。それは『サッポロ一番しょうゆ味』。 彼女はそれを食べる事はなく、ただ親指で擦り、音を立て見つめているだけ。朝起きて、夜眠りに就くまでのほとんどの時間をその行為に費やす。この行為を彼女はもう20年以上も続ける。 周囲から見ると全く無意味とされる行為も、彼女にとっては、かけがえのない大切なもの、行為のひとつなのである。 麺の感触なのか、袋に反射する光の加減か、または擦っている時に生じる音なのか。 何が彼女をそこまで惹きつけるのか、その要因は彼女だけにしかわからない。

Born in 1979, residing in Shiga Prefecture and a member of ATELIER YAMANAMI since 1996. At a certain point in her teenage years, Sakai started obsessing over a specific pack of instant noodles, ‘Sapporo Ichiban Original’. However, her way of enjoying the pack of noodles is not what one may expect. Instead of eating the noodles, Sakai carefully rubs the unopened package with her thumbs and listens to the sound it makes. For over 20 years, from the moment she wakes up in the morning until she falls asleep at night, Sakai stares at packages of ramen and indulges in this activity. This behavior may seem meaningless, but it is something that is very important and dear to Sakai. Whether it is the feeling of the dried noodles, the light that is reflected from the package or the sound it makes when the package is squeezed, only Sakai knows and understands this fascination with ‘Sapporo Ichiban Original’.
