1967年生まれ　滋賀県在住　1987年から『やまなみ工房』に所属 彼女が選ぶ刺繍のモチーフは画集から雑誌のグラビアまで幅広い。気に入った題材をもとに布地に下絵を起こすと、目の揃ったチェーンステッチで輪郭を縁取り、色を塗るかのように刺繍糸で縫い込む。選ぶ刺繍糸は鮮やかな色合いが多く、同じ系統の色でも濃淡をつけることで独特の色彩が目を引く作品となる。どんな名画や美しいモデルをモチーフとしても、いつの間にかテレビの中の人物や本人の身近な物事が表題とされる。緻密な作品と風変りなタイトルとの差が、作品の魅力を更に引き立てている。

born in 1967/ living in Shiga/ at YAMANAMI since 1987 Chiaki Simizu embroiders various kinds of motifs. She sometimes combines a TV star and some famous picture in her embroidery. The contrast between the peculiar title she gives to her work and their thoroughness and the quality of it is one of her art’s charms. When she finds a motif she likes, she designs the pattern she will embroider. She then sews chain stitches orderly along the design, and embroiders in colorful threads. She likes to use bright colored threads of many shades, so it creates a fascinating effect.
