Naoki Nishihashi puts all his heart in drawing many different things-his favorite food, TV characters, animals, and so on. Among them, one is a very special subject for his drawings. It is a takoyaki, a Japanese snack which is a ball-shaped pancake containing small pieces of octopus. He makes it a rule to eat takoyaki on Fridays. To let his mother know what kind of takoyaki he would like to eat next time, he draws different types of takoyaki every week― sometimes the one with dried seaweed, and sometimes the one with mayonnaise. By doing so, he gets a sense of security, and it is his way of communicating with others.
